  1. Your identity now contains an “@” (@birdsall)
  2. RT = Retweet (copying & sending out someone else’s Tweet)
  3. DM = Direct Message, only you can see it
  4. Replies = when people reference you, send you a reply or a RT
  5. Trending Topics = the most popular tweets/topics at the moment
  6. Find & Follow people you think are cool
  7. Twitter is like a constant stream of fish. Don’t stress about the ones you never saw – just live in the moment
  8. Locking your profile updates is very un-cool – get with the program
  9. Ignore the people that promise 25,000 followers in a day
  10. Use # (hashtags)  for topics so you count at hashtags.org   sample: I love #wine
  11. Use an avatar – nobody follows a brown square

  15. After mastering twitter, geek out & download Tweetdeck for your computer & Tweetie for your iphone
  16. Promote only in a mutually beneficial way
  17. Social Media is all about interaction, don’t stand in the corner
  18. Twitpics: posting a photo is a winner, and you can see how many views it gets
  19. Twitter can cause serious black-outs of time – especially if you’re A.D.D!
  20. It’s impolite to reply to a tweet and not include what you are replying to
  21. Changing your avatar on Twitter will confuse everyone – your followers won’t recognize you anymore
  22. Your profile info should include the 5 types of users you’d like to have as followers (i.e. wine, entrepreneur, mom)
  23. Have at least 25 posts before you start following people – nobody follows back an empty wall
  24. Find your perfect peeps to follow by interest at http://www.wefollow.com
  25. Don’t link your Twitter to update to your Facebook status unless they are the same audience
